Massey University 125 years of Defining Art & Design
The Formway Life Chair, the Island Bay Container House, and the Nike Pegasus Shoe are all excellent examples of sustainable and innovative industrial design that have come from students graduating from the Wellington Technical College (WTC)
ROSS STEVENS - Island Bay Container House
This structure is a wall of shipping containers, built against a hill in Wellington and designed and built by WTC’s Ross Stevens. It uses the spaces between the containers and the hill to expand itsliving spacebeyond that limiting interior dimensions of a standard ISO box.
MARK PENNINGTON - Formway Life Chair
Designed by WTC’s Mark Penning-ton, the Formway Life Chair is made from 90% environmentally conscious material, the LIFE chair adapts to you, making movement easy. It responds and adapts to your body - allowing you to keep working without having to worry about adjustments.
ANDREAS HARLOW - The Nike Pegasus 25 Athletic Shoe
The Pegasus 25, one of Nike’s most iconic shoes was designed to maximum efficiency by a team led by WTC’s Andreas Harlow. The outsole uses environ-mentally preferred material, such as Nike Grind rubber from used car tyres. The Pegasus 25 uses 1.4 ounces less material than the previous version - less weight = less waste, a very desireable aspect for athletes wanting to reach their full potential.
